Thank you for considering sharing your Everyday Hero story with UHV.News. To ensure a positive and respectful environment for all, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:

Acceptable Submission Policy for UHV.News

(I). General Submission Guidelines

Format: Please submit your story in a text document or directly in the form submission message body.

Word Count: We suggest a word count of at least 500 words.

Photos/Videos: You are welcome to include photos or videos, but please ensure you have the necessary permissions.

Relevance: Submissions must be appropriate for the specific category to which they are submitted on UHV.News. They should align with the overall theme and purpose of that section.

Originality: Submissions must be the original work of the submitter. They should not be copied or plagiarized from any other source (text, images, etc.).

Accuracy: Submissions should be factually accurate to the best of the submitter’s knowledge. Information presented should be verifiable and not knowingly false or misleading.

Respect: Submissions must be respectful of others. They should avoid language or content that is offensive, discriminatory, or intended to harm or demean individuals or groups. Avoid any form of hate speech, harassment, or personal attacks in your submission.

Legality: Submissions must not violate any applicable laws or regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, laws related to libel, privacy, and intellectual property.

Hate Speech, Harassment, Defamation, etc., Restrictions: Submissions must not contain:

Copyright Infringement: Submissions must not use copyrighted material (text, images, music, videos) without proper authorization or permission from the copyright holder.

Editorial Rights: UHV.News reserves the right to:

  • Edit: Modify submissions for clarity, grammar, style, length, and adherence to these guidelines.
  • Publish: Decide whether or not to publish a submission.
  • Remove: Remove published content at its discretion.
    • Example: UHV.News may correct typos or rephrase sentences for better readability.

Liability:

  • Submitter Responsibility: Submitters are responsible for the content of their submissions and any legal consequences that may arise from it.
  • UHV.News Liability: UHV.News’s liability for the content of submissions is limited (as defined in the site’s terms of service).

(II). Category-Specific Guidelines

A. People’s Voices Submissions

In addition to the General Submission Guidelines, the following guidelines apply to submissions for the People’s Voices category:

  • Personal Perspective: Submissions should primarily focus on the submitter’s personal experiences, opinions, reflections, or insights.
  • Authenticity: We encourage honest and authentic self-expression.
  • Respectful Discourse: While strong opinions are welcome, submissions should be expressed respectfully and avoid personal attacks.
  • Anonymity (Optional): Submitters may choose to use a pseudonym or remain anonymous, but please be aware that UHV.News may need your contact information for verification purposes.
  • Topic Range: Submissions can cover a wide range of topics, but should be relevant to the UHV.News audience and avoid purely promotional content.

B. Power & Accountability Submissions

In addition to the General Submission Guidelines, the following guidelines apply to submissions for the Power & Accountability category:

  • Factual Basis: Submissions should be based on factual information and evidence, to the best of the submitter’s knowledge.
  • Evidence and Documentation: Submissions that include supporting evidence (e.g., documents, recordings, data) are strongly preferred.
  • Source Protection: UHV.News will take reasonable steps to protect the confidentiality of sources, but absolute anonymity cannot be guaranteed.
  • Verification: UHV.News may conduct its own fact-checking and verification of submissions.
  • Potential Harm: Submitters should be aware of the potential risks associated with exposing wrongdoing and should take steps to protect themselves.

C. Community Spotlights Submissions

In addition to the General Submission Guidelines, the following guidelines apply to submissions for the Community Spotlights category:

  • Community Focus: Submissions should primarily focus on the community’s collective identity, culture, and experiences. While individual stories can be included, they should serve to illustrate broader community themes.
  • Representation: Submissions should strive to represent the diversity of the community in a respectful and accurate manner.
  • Consent and Permission: If the submission includes identifiable individuals (e.g., in photos or quotes), the submitter is responsible for obtaining their explicit consent.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Please be mindful of the cultural norms and traditions of the community you are portraying.
  • Verification: Where possible, please provide sources or information that can help us verify the accuracy of the information in your submission.

D. Everyday Heroes Submissions

In addition to the General Submission Guidelines, the following guidelines apply to submissions for the Everyday Heroes category:

  • Heroic Actions: Submissions should focus on specific acts of kindness, courage, selflessness, or positive impact on the community.
  • Impact on Others: Emphasize the positive impact the “hero” has had on individuals or the community.
  • Nominee Consent: Submitters should obtain the nominee’s consent before submitting their story (unless there are compelling reasons why this is not possible).
  • Accuracy and Truthfulness: Submissions should be truthful and accurate portrayals of the “hero’s” actions.
  • Focus on Positivity: While challenges can be acknowledged, the primary focus should be on celebrating the “hero’s” positive contributions.
